Recently I have been getting this question from a lot of readers, friends and others. They all want to know how they can determine if their phone has been hacked. This article is written in a way that you do not need alot of computer knowledge to determine if your phone has been hacked into. Let’s get started
There are literally hundreds of ways your phone can be hacked, but for this article, we will concentrate on how you can tell if your phone has already been hacked what you can do about it.
If your phone starts getting some weird pop-ups and notifications, you might be a victim of a hack. At times these are preinstalled spyware that came with the phone before you bought it. If this is the case, you should visit a phone expert and SPECIFICALLY ASK FOR OFFICIAL ROM to be installed.
2. PHONE IS SLOW
If your phone was working fine and all of a sudden it becomes slow, hot and freezes, you might be a victim of a hack attack. If this is coupled with instances where your flashlight comes on and off and your phone alerts you of microphone usage by apps that you did not download, then you are 100% Hacked. Consult a phone expert as soon as possible.
3. The ON and OFF Syndrome
If your mobile phone gets hot, goes off, or gets hot, goes off and comes back on, or goes off on its own or suddenly restarts when it feels like it… you are likely a hacking victim. We strongly advise that if this is your case, remove the battery from the phone and contact a security expert.
4. BATTERY CONSUMPTION IS TOO HIGH
If your phone battery is at 100% and the next minute at 20%, you might have been hacked. Spyware and Malware are huge consumers of power and such battery usage, although not specifically tied to a hack attack is a good indicator of you being a victim. In such cases you might want to go to your phone settings and check which apps are consuming your battery if you notice that the internet is a huge consumer, then you should contact as phone expert as soon as possible.
5. EXCESSIVE USE OF PHONE’S DATA
If your phone consumes a lot of data (Internet Bundle) you might have been hacked. Crackers and Hackers who access your phone will need the information to be shipped to their servers, this process consumes a lot of data and might be an indicator of a hack.
HOW TO PREVENT YOUR PHONE FROM BEING HACKED
- Download a phone security application. I strongly recommend LOOKOUT Security app
- Do not click on suspicious links on social media or emails or even from text messages
- Do not connect to suspicious WiFi hotspots. If you do, do not access private information on such networks
- Always Update your phone
- do not jailbreak or install custom ROMs on your mobile. most are hacked from scratch
- follow AISCON post for updates
