Gmail MITM attack with BetterCap

Emails are used by businesses and people across the globe. Exploiting them should not be easy... but it is and this is how it is done and what you need to do to protect yourself.

A lot of people depend on their Email to get valuable information, some of which include tp business and political secrets. It is, therefore, no secret that Crackers (The term for black hat hackers) have concentrated efforts in hacking emails.

Gmail is trusted by many which explain why we are using it for our tutorial today. So what is bettercap? – BetterCAP┬áis a powerful, flexible and portable tool created to perform various types of MITM attacks against a network, manipulate HTTP, HTTPS and TCP traffic in realtime, sniff for credentials and much more.

We will be using Bettercap to prove that Emails can easily be hacked.

Step 1: Install BetterCap

The first thing to do is to install BetterCap. The command is simple.

“apt-get install bettercap” will allow you to install the software you need for this attack. Once that is done, please go to Step 2.

Step 2: Run BetterCap on Local Network

Once you have installed Bettercap, Locate your local IP address and use that information to start a Man in the Middle Attack on the local Network. At this point, any address entered in any of the local PC will pass through the attacker in plain text
